Choosing observation windows for endpoint reviews

An endpoint performance review is only as strong as the windows you agree to watch. If you observe only mid-morning on a quiet Tuesday, you will miss the contention that appears when evening mobile traffic meets batch work.

Windows we usually propose

  1. Baseline — a representative calm period for the same endpoints
  2. Known peak — the hour product already distrusts
  3. Post-release — if a deploy is planned during the engagement

Constraints to name early

Access policies, change freezes, and privacy rules can block certain hours. Put those limits in the scope sheet so nobody pretends a missing peak was “covered.” Endpoint performance monitoring without an honest window list becomes theatre.

When you request a review, include the hours users already complain about. That single detail shapes the quote and the findings.
